About these numbers: Levels are printed star counts from the official Konami database. Tribute rules follow from stars: 5 and 6 need one tribute, 7 and up need two, Egyptian Gods need three. Xyz Ranks are a separate mechanic and stay out.

About this converter

Every Yu-Gi-Oh! monster carries a star count that sets its summon cost. Kuriboh and Skull Servant open at 1 with no tribute, Baby Dragon and Exodia head at 3, Celtic Guardian at 4 as the strongest free summon. Level 6 needs one tribute with dark magician girl, summoned skull and jinzo tied there. Level 7 needs two tributes with gaia, dark magician, red-eyes and neos tied there. Level 8 holds black luster soldier, blue-eyes and stardust. Obelisk at 10 needs three tributes and blue-eyes ultimate dragon at 12 tops the table. That makes one ultimate dragon equal twelve kuribohs of stars.

How to use it

Pick two monsters and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the total in Level stars. Try 1 Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon against Kuribohs.

Number 39 Utopia stays out because Xyz monsters carry a Rank of 4, not a Level, so no star number exists to compare. Attack and defense for the same set run on the companion ATK and DEF pages. Ritual and fusion summon rules add their own costs on top of star counts.
