About these numbers: Base assumption: 1 Berry tracks 1 Japanese yen in purchasing power for everyday goods. This is the long standing fan consensus backed by Oda basing Berry bills on yen bills and by Shueisha Mugiwara Stores posting 1 yen = 1 Berry signs. Fiat conversion then uses 150 JPY = 1 USD, 162 JPY = 1 EUR, 190 JPY = 1 GBP (rounded 2024-2026 averages, clearly labeled as estimates). Oda never stated an official Berry to dollar rate.

About this converter

The Berry is the world currency of One Piece, issued across the Grand Line and the four Blues. Oda modeled both its look and its everyday value on the Japanese yen: the bill designs spoof real yen portraits, and prices for food, clothes and newspapers line up with yen prices in Japan. The English name varies by translation (Berry, Berri, Beli, Belly), but it is the same money. Because Oda never set a dollar rate, the honest method is the one the community and the official stores use: treat 1 Berry as 1 yen of buying power, then convert yen to dollars or euros at normal exchange rates. That makes Luffy's first 30,000,000 bounty worth roughly 30,000,000 yen, or about $200,000.

How to use it

Pick two entries and a currency in the top row, for example a bounty and the US dollar. The three boxes below stay linked, so editing any number updates the other two. Try a bounty from the table or your own figure. Rates used: 1 Berry = 1 JPY, 150 JPY = 1 USD, 162 JPY = 1 EUR, 190 JPY = 1 GBP. These fiat rates are rounded recent averages.

Bounties are threat assessments by the World Government, not bank balances, so converting them to dollars answers what the poster number would buy, not what the pirate owns. Small prices anchor the scale best: a 100 Berry newspaper and a 10,000 Berry brand shirt behave exactly like their yen equivalents.

FAQ

How much is 1 Berry worth in US dollars?

About $0.0067 at 150 yen to the dollar. So 1,000,000 Berries is roughly $6,700. The rate moves with the yen, so treat dollar outputs as estimates.

Did Oda confirm Berry equals yen?

He confirmed the bills parody yen bills, and licensed Mugiwara Stores post 1 yen = 1 Berry at registers. He never stated a dollar rate, which is why this page shows its working instead of hiding it.

Why is it spelled Berry, Berri or Beli?

The Japanese is beri, between an R and L sound. Viz and Funimation use Berry, some fans write Berri or Beli. All refer to the same currency.

What was Luffy's first bounty worth?

30,000,000 Berries after Arlong Park, roughly 30,000,000 yen or about $200,000 at the consensus rate.
