About this converter

Classic BattleTech Technical Readouts print top speed for every Mech, and the span runs from 32.4 to 129.6 kph. UrbanMech crawls at 32.4, Atlas, Stalker and King Crab march at 54, Thunderbolt, Warhammer and Battlemaster run 64.8, Wolverine and Griffin hit 86.4, Commando, Firestarter and Phoenix Hawk reach 97.2, Jenner sprints 118 and Locust, Spider and Cicada top 129.6. That makes one Locust four UrbanMechs of top speed. The rule is simple: run MP times 10.8 gives top kph, walk is two thirds of that. Every value here is the TRO top speed.

How to use it

Pick two Mechs and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the speed in kph or mph. Try 1 Locust against Atlases to see scout pace against assault crawl.

Speeds are top running speeds from TRO 3025 and 3039 via Sarna. Cruise speed is two thirds of top and appears in notes where useful. Jump jets add mobility but never change ground speed rows. Later variants with XL engines run faster, for example Locust 5M near 194, and stay out of these base chassis rows.
