About these numbers: Hit points are printed card stats from the 1999 Base Set and Jungle prints, not video game stats. Powers, weaknesses and resistance decide real games, so this page compares printed HP only.

About this converter

Base Set wrote the HP curve the whole hobby still remembers. Pikachu and Clefairy at 40, Mewtwo at 60, Hitmonchan and Dugtrio at 70, Alakazam and Magneton at 80, Kangaskhan, Raichu and Zapdos at 90, a five card wall at 100 with Blastoise, Venusaur, Gyarados, Machamp and Poliwrath, then Charizard and Chansey at 120. That means one Charizard outlasts three Pikachus head to head, while Alakazam survives exactly two Pikachu hits. Every value here is the printed HP on the 1999 cards. Later sets inflated numbers into the hundreds, so this table stays Base Set and Jungle pure.

How to use it

Pick two Pokemon and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked: one holds a count of the first, one the matching count of the second, one the total in hit points. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 Charizard against Pikachus.

Promos and later sets are left out because their HP scales differ by era. Weakness doubles damage and resistance subtracts it, which is why printed HP never tells the full game story.
