Magic planeswalkers print starting loyalty from 2 to 6. Nissa Revane opens at 2, Jace Beleren, Garruk, Mind Sculptor and Liliana of the Veil at 3, Ajani, Elspeth, Sarkhan and Sorin at 4, Liliana Vess at 5, Chandra Nalaar and Gideon Jura at 6. That makes one Gideon equal three Nissas or two Jaces of starting loyalty. Lorwyn originals anchor the table with Jace 3, Liliana 5 and Chandra 6. Abilities move counters after entry but never change printed rows. Every value here is the Gatherer Oracle starting number.
How to use it
Pick two planeswalkers and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked: one holds a count of the first, one the matching count of the second, one the total in loyalty. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 Gideon against Nissas.
Ultimates need loyalty thresholds on top of start, for example Gideon 6 starts ready for mid abilities but not ultimates. Plus and minus abilities change live counters but never change base rows. Reprints keep loyalty across sets, so Lorwyn numbers hold.
