About these numbers: Gil values are NES original per encounter. The companion XP page rows the EXP column of the same table. Chaos pays 0 of both by design and stays out of math.

About this converter

FF1 pays fixed gil per encounter from 6 to 32000. Coneria opens with imp and wolf tied at 6, grimp at 18, grwolf at 22 and cobra at 50. The middle climbs through ogre at 195, frwolf at 200, grey worm at 400, ogre mage at 723, green medusa at 1218, vampire at 2000, chimera at 2500, irongol at 3000, bigeye at 3591 and grey naga at 4000. Rare hunts finish with jimera and gas dragon tied at 5000 and warmech at 32000. That makes one warmech equal over five thousand imps. Some rows match EXP exactly while others split, which each note calls out.

How to use it

Pick two monsters and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the total in gil. Try 1 WarMECH against Imps.

EXP runs on the companion XP page with the same monster set, so use that page for level math. Wolf is the classic split row: 24 EXP but only 6 gil. Ogre, ogre mage, medusa, bigeye and warmech match across both columns. Chaos pays 0 gil and 0 EXP by design and stays out since a zero row breaks ratios.

FAQ

How much gil is WarMECH?

32000 gil and 32000 EXP in the NES original.

How much gil is a Wolf?

6 gil. Its EXP pays 24, a classic split.

Why a separate gil page?

EXP and gil differ per monster, so each runs on its own page with notes.

Why no Chaos?

The final boss pays 0 of both by design, so it stays out.
