About this converter
Villagers run fixed markets, which makes them perfect for comparison. A Fletcher pays 1 emerald for 32 sticks, a Farmer pays 1 for 20 wheat, a Librarian pays 1 for 24 paper and a Cleric pays 1 for 32 rotten flesh. That means one stick equals 0.03 emeralds while one beetroot equals 0.07, so beets beat sticks per item even though wheat farms win per hour. Buying runs the other way: 16 arrows cost 1 emerald, a bow costs 2, a crossbow 3 and a bookshelf 9. Every figure here is the Java Edition base rate from the trade files. Bedrock prices match on the rows shown but probabilities differ, so Java is the reference.
How to use it
Pick two trades and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked: one holds a count of the first trade, one the matching count of the second, one the total in emeralds or stacks. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 bookshelf against sticks.
Villager gifts, gossip and cured discounts move real prices up or down, sometimes to 1 emerald flat, which is why the table uses base rates only. Enchanted books are left out because their cost runs 5 to 64 emeralds by enchantment. Cartographer maps and explorer maps are left out for the same reason: fixed cost, variable value.
FAQ
How many sticks for 1 emerald?
32 sticks to a Fletcher at base price, the classic starter farm. That is 0.03 emeralds per stick.
What is the best crop to sell?
Carrots and potatoes at 22 and 26 per emerald. They yield about 2.4 crops per farmland tile, far above wheat.
How much is a bookshelf?
9 emeralds from a Librarian. It breaks into 3 books, which sell back for emeralds.
Do discounts change these prices?
Yes. Reputation and curing can drop most trades to 1 emerald. The table shows base rates before discounts.
