About this converter

Hogwarts house points live in dialogue, and the first two books state the clearest numbers. Year 1 ends Gryffindor 482, Slytherin 472, Ravenclaw 426 and Hufflepuff 352 after four late awards: Harry 60 for nerve, Ron 50 for chess, Hermione 50 for intellect and Neville 10 for standing up to friends. That late 170 point swing takes Gryffindor past Slytherin. Earlier in year 1, McGonagall gives Harry and Hermione 5 each for the troll and takes 50 each from Harry, Hermione and Neville plus 20 from Draco Malfoy for the night incident. Year 2 gives Harry and Ron 200 each for the Chamber, which seals another Gryffindor cup. One Chamber award equals 20 Neville awards.

How to use it

Pick two awards and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 Chamber award against Neville awards to see how many small standings one rescue equals. The unit box totals the points.

Only year 1 states all four final totals in text, so later years use single stated awards only. Deductions are listed at full size with taken in the name so the converter math stays positive. The Triwizard year holds no House Cup contest, and later books shift to detentions and Order business, so those years stay out. Film only point lines are excluded and rows pin book chapters.
