About these numbers: Counts cover player controlled base game summons from Pixel Remaster and original guides. Lore totals, non usable forms and DLC are noted separately per row. Brief guesses for five games were corrected.

About this converter

Final Fantasy summon counts run from 6 to 27 in the base games, which makes every era easy to compare. Final Fantasy 13 and 15 hold 6 each, while Final Fantasy 6 holds 27 Espers. That means one FF6 equals 4.5 FF13 rosters. Every figure on this page counts player controlled summons in the base game only, no DLC. Names for the same being differ by game: Espers, Guardian Forces, Eidolons, Aeons, Astrals and Eikons. Later games narrow the usable set while lore totals run higher, and rows state both where they split. Brief guesses for FF3, FF5, FF9, FF13 and FF16 were corrected against the guides.

How to use it

Pick two games and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. Try FF6 against FF13 to feel the most versus fewest gap, or FF7 against FF8 to compare the twin 16s.

FF3 reads 8, one per magic level. FF4 reads 15 with item summons included. FF5 reads 15, not 20. FF6 reads 27 base with 31 in Advance. FF7 reads 16 Summon Materia with Bahamut forms as three. FF8 reads 16 junctionable with 6 more by events. FF9 reads 12 playable, not 13. FF10 reads 8 with 3 optional. FF12 reads 13 with 5 story. FF13 reads 6, not 8. FF15 reads 6 total with 4 usable. FF16 reads 8 usable of 10 lore, with Leviathan DLC excluded.
