About these numbers: Times are stationary pit stop times in seconds from Formula1.com stop pages, DHL releases and Guinness. Early awards were decided by count of fastest stops and later by points, so rows note where the single fastest crew differs from the season winner.

About this converter

Formula 1 pit stop times fell from about 2.10 seconds in 2015 to 1.80 in 2023, which makes every season easy to compare. McLaren serviced Lando Norris in 1.80 at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, while Ferrari best mark in 2015 was 2.10. That is a gap of 0.30 seconds, or about 14 percent. Every figure on this page is a fastest single stop per season from Formula1.com stop pages, DHL releases and Guinness records. Early DHL awards were decided by count of fastest stops, and from 2017 by points, so the season title does not always match the single fastest crew. Each row notes where they differ.

How to use it

Pick two seasons and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked: one holds a count of the first time, one the matching count of the second, one the total in seconds. Change any box and the other two update. Try 2023 McLaren against 2015 Ferrari to feel the record gap, or 2019 Red Bull against 2024 best to compare the two eras.

Red Bull 1.82 at Brazil 2019 broke the 1.88 German mark from the same season and stood until 2023. Williams set single bests in 2016 at 1.92 Baku and 2017 at 2.02 Silverstone without winning those points titles. Ferrari set the 2018 single best at 1.97 Brazil while Red Bull won the points. McLaren set the 2022 single best at 1.98 Mexico while Red Bull won the points. The 2024 best of 1.90 was shared by Red Bull in China and McLaren in Mexico.
