About this converter
Stellaris prices each next tradition pick in unity with one formula: 300 plus the quantity (8 times traditions already taken) raised to 1.8, at 1x cost and empire size 100 or less. The first pick costs 300. The second costs 342, the third 447 and the fourth 605. Mid picks climb fast: fifth 812, sixth 1,065, seventh 1,362 and eighth 1,702. Late picks turn steep: ninth 2,083, tenth 2,504, eleventh 2,964, twelfth 3,463 and thirteenth 3,999. One thirteenth pick costs as much as thirteen first picks. Adoption of a tree and its finisher each count as picks, so full trees push later costs up.
How to use it
Pick two tradition slots and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first slot, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the total in unity. Try the 13th tradition against the 1st to see the full climb, in single unity or thousands.
Values assume empire size at or under 100 with the 1x tech and tradition cost setting, so no size penalty applies. Above 100 each point of size adds 0.2 percent through the size term. Paradox rebalances costs between patches, so treat these as the formula values cited below and check the live wiki if your version differs. Rows are rounded to whole unity; the game keeps fractions behind the display.
FAQ
How much unity is the first tradition?
300 unity at 1x cost with empire size 100 or less. No size penalty applies there.
How much is the thirteenth tradition?
3,999. That equals more than thirteen first picks put together.
Do tree adoption and the finisher count?
Yes. Each counts as a pick and raises the taken count in the formula for every later pick.
Does a big empire pay more per pick?
Yes. Size above 100 adds 0.2 percent per point through the size term, so wide empires pay more per pick.
