About this converter
Starfield hands out permanent percent bonuses in pickup order: the first magazine of a series always grants that series first bonus, whatever issue number you grab. The biggest single pickup here is the Constellation Guide oxygen bonus at 15 percent less use while overencumbered. Most combat pickups give 5 percent: fall damage, healing, outpost output, laser crit, robot damage, ballistic crit, Laredo handling, night damage, crew damage, ship missiles and melee sneak. Small gains give 2 percent: science progress, tech progress, tool-grip damage and store prices. The smallest give 1 percent: grav fuel and disarm chance. One 15 percent oxygen bonus equals three 5 percent combat bonuses or fifteen 1 percent fuel cuts.
How to use it
Pick two magazine bonuses and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first bonus, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the total in percent. Try the 15 percent oxygen bonus against a 5 percent damage bonus, then click any table row to load it as Entry A with amount 1.
Bonuses apply in collection order within each series, so issue numbers on the cover do not set which bonus you get. Neon Nights and The New Atlantian grant fixed recipes per issue instead of percents and stay out. UC Defense Manual and CombaTech Catalog use words like slightly and further with no numbers, so they stay out too. Carry weight, cargo space and hacking attempts use kilos or counts instead of percents and stay out for the same reason.
FAQ
Do I need the exact issue number for a bonus?
No. Bonuses land in pickup order per series. The first magazine of a series grants the first bonus whatever its cover number.
Which magazine bonus is biggest?
Constellation Guide oxygen saving at 15 percent. Every other row here is 5 percent, 2 percent or 1 percent.
Which bonuses are only 1 percent?
Nova Galactic grav fuel cut and Freestar disarm chance. Fifteen fuel cuts equal one oxygen bonus.
Why are some magazines missing?
Only percent bonuses qualify. Recipes, kilo carry gains and word-only boosts like slightly have no percent to compare.
