About these numbers: Gen I uses one Special stat for both dealing and soaking special damage. Later games split it into Special Attack and Special Defense, so rows pin the Gen I base only.

About this converter

Red and Blue run special moves off one Special number per species from 20 to 154. Caterpie and Magikarp open tied at 20, Pikachu at 50, Sandslash at 55, Fearow at 61, Bulbasaur, Eevee, Snorlax and Machamp tied at 65, Raichu at 90, Gyarados, Mew and Dragonite tied at 100, Chansey and Abra tied at 105, Vaporeon at 110, Alakazam at 135 and Mewtwo at 154. That makes one Mewtwo equal over seven Magikarps of Special. Every value here is the Gen I base with Amnesia stages and badges left out.

How to use it

Pick two Pokemon and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the total in Special. Try 1 Mewtwo against Magikarps.

Amnesia raises Special two stages per use, which is why Snorlax and Mewtwo run it to double these bases in battle. Physical moves ignore this stat entirely and run off Attack instead. HP, Attack, Defense and Speed for the same dex set run on companion pages.

FAQ

What is Mewtwo Special?

154 base in Gen I, the highest here. Alakazam follows at 135.

What is Pikachu Special?

50 base in Gen I. Raichu reaches 90.

Why one Special stat?

Gen I never split offense from defense for special moves. The split came in Gen II.

Why base only?

IVs, badges and Amnesia stages vary per save, so rows pin the base.
