About this converter

Oblivion lists base damage for each unenchanted weapon before stats scale it. Actual hits use Strength, Blade skill, Luck and weapon health in the UESP damage formula. The tables give the base used by that formula. Daggers run from Iron Dagger at 5 to Daedric Dagger at 19. Shortswords run from 7 to 11. Longswords run from Iron Longsword at 10 to Daedric Longsword at 24. Daedric Claymore tops the set at 26. Material tiers follow iron, steel, silver, dwarven, glass, ebony and daedric. That makes one Daedric Claymore equal over five Iron Daggers of base damage.

How to use it

Pick two weapons and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first weapon, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds total damage. Try 1 Daedric Claymore against Iron Daggers, then 1 Glass Longsword against Steel Longswords.

Values are base damage, not inventory damage. Inventory damage adds stats and health on top, with max near 20 percent over base at 100 Strength and skill. Fine iron and fine steel sit slightly over base iron and steel but never appear in random loot. Silver and daedric both hit ghosts and ethereal undead. Enchanted and bound variants carry their own numbers and stay out of this base list.
