About these numbers: Dimensions are the published LEGO System geometry used by BrickLink, Brick Owl and builder references. Five bricks tall equals six studs wide, the classic 5:6 ratio.

About this converter

LEGO geometry is exact engineering. Studs sit on an 8 mm grid, bricks rise 9.6 mm without the stud, plates are exactly a third of that at 3.2 mm, and the minifigure stands 4 cm. Those ratios are why five bricks stack to the same height as six studs span wide. Every figure here is the published System dimension from builder references and catalogs, with the classic ratios noted so builders can plan in studs and buy in millimeters. A 48x48 baseplate at 384 mm is exactly 1.5 times the 256 mm side of a 32x32, and a 40 mm minifigure stands on studs just 1.7 mm tall. All figures are LEGO's published millimeter specs, so plates, bricks and figures share one measuring stick.

How to use it

Pick two dimensions and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked: one holds a count of the first, one the matching count of the second, one the size in the chosen unit. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 baseplate against minifigures.

Duplo runs on a different, larger grid and stays out of this System-only table. Studs are never counted in brick or plate heights.
