About these numbers: Prices are fixed game data from the SNES 1992 release, unchanged in GBA 2006 and Pixel Remaster. Square never set a gil to dollar rate, so this page compares gil prices to each other and gives no USD conversion.

About this converter

Final Fantasy V prices stay fixed from Tule to the Merged World, which makes gil easy to compare. A Tonic costs 40, a Tent 250, a Hi-Potion 360, a Phoenix Down 1000, an Ether 1500 and an Elixir 50000. Weapons climb the same way, with Broadsword at 280 and Mythril Sword at 880. Armor follows, with Iron Armor at 500 and Mythril Armor at 700. Status cures anchor the low end, from Eye Drop at 20 to Gold Needle at 150. Every figure here is the shop price from the game data, the same in SNES, GBA and Pixel Remaster.

How to use it

Pick two entries and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first entry, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds the total in gil. Try 1 Elixir against Tonics.

Names shift by translation. Tonic is Potion in GBA, Potion is Hi-Potion, Soft is Gold Needle, Cornucopia is Mallet. Prices do not shift. Elixir at 50000 is sold only late, so early gil totals never reach it without grinding.
