About this converter

Final Fantasy XII came out in 2006 for PlayStation 2 from Square Enix. EXP comes from normal enemies seen in the field. Only live and active party members get EXP, and it is split fair between them. Boss fights give no EXP but still give License Points. The three Ultimania books from 2006 list full enemy stats. This page uses original game bestiary stats for early desert enemies and later water and rare foes. Low foes give under 40 EXP. Mid flying and rare wolves give near 2000 to 2700 EXP.

How to use it

Pick two entries and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. Start with Wolf and Cactoid to see early gains. Then compare Dive Talon to Wild Saurian to see mid game jumps in cost to level.

EXP shifts a bit with enemy level, so each note gives the full low to high span and the value uses the low end for a fixed point. Boss entries show 0 to match the rule that bosses give no EXP. Values match the original 2006 bestiary data also seen in the Battle Ultimania and Scenario Ultimania. The Zodiac versions keep the same base EXP for these foes. Party size and chain level do not change the base foe value used here.

FAQ

Do bosses give EXP in Final Fantasy XII?

No. Boss fights give 0 EXP. They still give License Points, and reserve members also get License Points.

How is EXP split in the party?

Only live and active members get EXP. The total is split in fair shares between them.

Why do values show a range in notes?

Many foes have a level span. EXP moves with level, so the note gives low to high and the value uses the low end.

What books list these stats?

Battle Ultimania and Scenario Ultimania from June 2006 and Ultimania Omega from November 2006 list enemy data.
