About this converter
The 5e advancement table sets one XP total for each level, and every class uses it. Level 2 needs 300, Level 3 needs 900, Level 4 needs 2,700, Level 5 needs 6,500, Level 10 needs 64,000, Level 15 needs 165,000 and Level 20 needs 355,000. All totals are cumulative from zero, not per level costs. Proficiency rises at fixed points: +2 for levels 1 to 4, +3 for 5 to 8, +4 for 9 to 12, +5 for 13 to 16 and +6 for 17 to 20. The 2024 rules keep the same numbers.
How to use it
Pick two levels and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 Level 20 against Level 2s to see the one thousand one hundred eighty three to one grind. Switch to thousands of XP for late tiers.
Level 1 starts at 0 and stays out of the table since it has no cost. The jump from 19 to 20 alone costs 50,000 XP, more than the whole climb to Level 9. Milestone leveling skips this table, but Adventurers League and most home games track XP with these totals. The 2024 Player's Handbook and SRD 5.2 repeat the 2014 figures with no change.
