About this converter
In Diablo 4 only the Skull grants flat armor, and only when socketed in jewelry such as rings and amulets. Armor slot sockets give other defenses like healing received or damage reduction, and weapon sockets give offense, so this table tracks Skull in jewelry alone. Two eras appear because Blizzard reworked gems. At launch the five tiers ran from Crude Skull at 75 armor to Royal Skull at 245. In the current system the five tiers run from Chipped Skull at 40 to Grand Skull at 240. That puts a launch Royal near a current Grand. Rows let both eras sit side by side so old guides still map to current gear.
How to use it
Pick two entries and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. One box holds a count of the first gem, one holds the matching count of the second, one holds total armor. Try Royal Skull launch at 245 against Grand Skull at 240 for the cross era tie, then Chipped Skull current at 40 against Crude Skull launch at 75. Only flat armor is used here.
Launch values come from the GameSpot May 2023 guide and the Windows Central gem guide, which agree on 75, 125, 170, 210 and 245 for Crude through Royal in jewelry. Current values come from the PureDiablo Jeweler guide, which lists 40, 80, 120, 160 and 240 for Chipped through Grand, and the GamerGuides Vessel of Hatred armor page confirms Skulls give between 40 and 240 armor each. The Crude tier no longer drops in the current game, so it appears only in launch rows. A mid 2023 Dexerto table lists higher scaling figures (100 to 340), which reflects item power scaling of that patch and stays out of base math. Skull in armor gives percent healing received, not flat armor, so those sockets stay out.
