About these numbers: Wages are fixed daily rates per background. Hire screen totals add gear value and level scaling, so this page compares base wages only.

About this converter

Battle Brothers pays each background a fixed daily wage in crowns, while hire totals float with gear and level. Beggars cost 3 per day, Butchers 7, Apprentices 8, Farmhands, Militia and Thieves 10 each, Brawlers and Lumberjacks 13 each, Hunters and Squires 20 each, Adventurous Nobles 25, and Hedge Knights, Sellswords and Swordmasters 35 each. Hire math adds gear base times 1.25 plus 500 times level minus 1 to the 1.5 power, so screens run hundreds to thousands. Swordmasters alone carry a 400 base hire exception. Every figure here is the Base Wage cell from Battle Brothers Wiki background and attribute tables.

How to use it

Pick two entries and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 Hedge Knight against 1 Beggar to see the top to floor gap per day. The ratio line prints how many times pricier one wage is.

Old Thief guides read 25 against current 10, corrected here. Hire screen anecdotes like 419 to 1388 include gear and stay out of the fixed wage math.

FAQ

Why wages and not hire fees?

Hire totals float with gear and level by formula. Base daily wage is the fixed number.

What is the highest wage here?

35 crowns for Hedge Knight, Sellsword and Swordmaster.

How much is a Farmhand per day?

10 crowns. Militia and Thief tie at 10.

What is the Swordmaster exception?

400 base hire instead of 30 to 150. Wage still 35.
