About this converter

1942 Second Edition combat rolls one six sided die per unit and hits at or under the printed value. Attacks run infantry 1, carrier 1, artillery 2, submarine 2, destroyer 2, tank 3, fighter 3, cruiser 3, bomber 4 and battleship 4. Defenses run bomber 1, infantry 2, tank 3, fighter 4 and battleship 4. Artillery boosts paired infantry attacks from 1 to 2. Battleships absorb 2 hits and bombard at 4. Carriers attack at 1 and defend at 2 while moving fighters.

How to use it

Pick two entries and a unit in the top row. The three boxes below stay linked. Change any box and the other two update. Try 1 battleship attack against infantry attack to see the four to one threshold gap. Rolls hit at or under each value.

Artillery defense 2, submarine defense 1, destroyer defense 2, cruiser defense 3 and carrier defense 2 round out the table but stay out to keep 15 rows. Transports attack and defend at zero with cost 7, and AAA has no normal values with cost 5, hitting air only at 1. Other editions change destroyer and carrier numbers, so this page keeps 1942 Second Edition only.
